On our last night in Utrecht, we went to dinner at this place for a six-course Xmas-orientated meal. Of course, the dishes were small and certainly an interesting mix of products presented in a special, if not artistic, way. The staff were excellent and explained each course fully. I chose the small tasting wine alternative with each course; Dan did the non-alcoholic choices.
The dinner cost € 150 each, Wine tasting was €8.50 each course, same for the non-alcoholic pairing.
The menu:
- Langoustine: Tomato, vanilla, Tandoori
- Bread service: mix of sourdough and brioche
- Scallop: Caviar, macadamia, smoked butter
- Halibut: Vadouvan, sauerkraut, smoked eel
- Iberico cheek: Madeira, truffle, eggplant
- Roe deer: Beetroot, cassia, blueberry (I found the meat rare and did not finish this dish)
- Christmas bauble: mandarin, juniper, berry, Earl Grey
- 80% chocolate: hazelnut, passionfruit, tonka bean
Overall, it took three hours to go through these dishes. I must admit I was very tired by the end. I stopped the wine tasting for the last three dishes.
Very unusual, would I go back, maybe not, but it was a Michelin experience.
